Groups
Groups in ThingTech is the centralized location where Administrators assign permissions, Things are assigned to rules, and where things are assigned to Preventive Maintenance Intervals. This can be done in an automated manner, based on filter criteria, or via a manual selection. Groups are accessed via the Groups icon on the left hand side of the main screen, and is accessible only to administrators.
Groups in ThingTech allows administrators to:
Assign permissions on Things (View, Edit, Delete)
Assign Things to Rules
Assign Things to Preventive Maintenance Intervals
Criteria Based Groups vs Manual Selection Groups
Criteria Based groups
Allows you to assign things based on a filter criteria
Automatically adds the Thing when the criteria is met
Manual Selection Group
Allows you to manually assign things
The administrator must manually add new Things to the selection
Permission Groups:
Permission Groups allow you the ability to assign rights to groups of users or individual users.
Rights include View, Edit, Delete
Rule Groups:
Rule Groups allow you to assign Things to a rule
Interval Groups:
Interval Groups allow you to assign Things to a Preventive Maintenance Interval
This will trigger the creation of a Preventive Maintenance schedule for each Thing assigned to the Preventive Maintenance Interval
Creating a Criteria Based Permission Group
1. Click on the Groups icon
2. Select the type of group you want to create
3. Click on the “New Group” button
4. Provide a name and description
5. Select Criteria Based
6. Select the class(es) you want to assign to the criteria based group from the drop down
7. Select the filter(s) you want to apply
***Please Note: If you leave the filters blank for a class, all members of that class will be selected
8. Select the user or user groups to assign rights to from the drop down menu
9. Assign the rights desired for the user or user group
10. Select Save Group
11. Once Saved, you can see your selections in the main groups page by selecting the group
Creating A Criteria based Rule or Interval Group
1.. Click on the Groups icon
2. Select the type of group you want to create
3. Click on the “New Group” button
4. Provide a name and description
5. Select Criteria Based
6. Select the class(es) you want to assign to the criteria based group from the drop down
7. Select the filter(s) you want to apply
***Please Note: If you leave the filters blank for a class, all members of that class will be selected
8. Select the Rule or PM Interval you want to assign the Thing to
9. Assign the rights desired for the user or user group
10. Select Save Group
11. Once Saved, you can see your selections in the main groups page by selecting the group
