Installation Steps
1. Determine an appropriate mounting location for the TTU. When determining the location, take the following points into consideration:
- Located as high upon the asset as possible with the top of the device facing the sky
- Device should not be covered or obstructed by any metallic object or mounted inside any type of metallic enclosure
- Rigidly attached to the vehicle to reduce any damage from vibration
- Mounted out of the way so it does not interfere with normal operation of the asset
- To ensure correct operation, with the asset outdoors, temporarily place the GPS device where you plan on mounting it, remove the magnet from the top of the unit, wait 5 minutes then call technical support to confirm that location is suitable.
- Note: This device cannot be mounted near any strong magnetic sources! Due to its built-in magnetic switch, any strong magnetic fields present may cause intermittent operation or lack of operation altogether. Other sources of interference such as strong EMI/EMF/RF from AC generators, RF transmitters or electrical coils may also cause erratic performance and should be avoided.
2. Prepare the mounting surface and fasten. Mounting methods for the TTU720 device can be various, however it is highly suggested that the installer use bolts, washers and locking nuts to prevent the device from being shaken loose from the asset it is monitoring.
- For physical fastener mounting, ensure the mounting surface and any spaces behind it are not occupied by cables, wiring, hydraulic lines etc. Mark the 4 holes of the devices mounting flange with a permanent marker and drill 3/16” holes into the assets surface
- Bolt the asset tracker down using the supplied hardware, or if necessary any standard corrosion-resistant plated hardware will suffice.
- If the asset is mounted to a multi-layer surface, it is recommended that GE Silicone II be applied to all the holes to ensure water will not ingress to subsequent areas of the asset (such as inside a trailer or generator panel)
3. Testing/Confirmation Steps
- The final test after installation requires the asset to be outside with clear view of the sky
- Remove the small rectangular magnet from the top of the asset tracker and keep away from this device for the duration of it’s time in service
- Wait 5 minutes
- Call your Pedigree ThingTech Support representative to confirm and finalize the installation.
